The anchor line and the drop-off

The boat drops anchor in 15–20 metres of water inside the bay. The bottom is white sand and reef; on a calm day you can see the anchor line all the way down. Twenty metres east the shelf drops off into a deeper indigo — perfectly safe, just don't be startled the first time you look down.

The snorkel line along the cliff wall

From the swim ladder, drift right along the cliff for 20 metres. The wall is layered with sea bream, wrasse in the cracks, and salemas grazing on the algae. Turn around at the small overhang and drift back — the light through the anchor line makes the shot on the way home.

The 2-metre bow jump

The bow jump platform opens once the captain confirms the bottom below is clear. It's a real 2-metre drop — check your GoPro strap and don't jump with fins on. Weak jumpers use the swim ladder on the side and swim over to watch.

What to do if the drop-off makes you nervous

Wear the life jacket. Stay along the cliff wall — the water is 4–5 metres deep there, not 20 — and keep the boat in your peripheral vision. Ninety percent of first-timers are relaxed within five minutes; the water is so clear the depth reads differently once you're in.

The boat anchors in 15–20 metres of open Ionian water — one of the deepest swim stops of the day. Visibility runs 15–25 metres, so you can see the anchor line and the bottom clearly on calm mornings, and the blue drops away into a deeper indigo where the seabed shelves off.

Is Kakome Bay safe for weak swimmers?

Yes — life jackets are worn by anyone who prefers to float, the crew stays in the water beside first-timers, and the boat's swim ladder is right there to grab. The water is warm (25–26°C in July–August) and there's no current inside the bay.

What's the best snorkel line at Kakome?

Enter from the swim ladder, drift 20 metres along the cliff wall on your right, and you'll pass a small drop-off wall covered in wrasse and sea bream. Turn around and the sunlight hits the anchor line for the classic diver-shot from below.

Can you jump off the boat at Kakome?

Yes — the boat has a 2-metre jump platform off the bow. The captain confirms the bottom is clear before opening it. Guests who prefer to enter feet-first use the swim ladder on the side.

How long is the Kakome swim stop?

Around 40–45 minutes — the longest open-water swim of the day. There's time to snorkel the cliff line, jump off the bow a few times, drift with the life jacket, and dry off before the boat repositions for the Krorëz beach stop.
